WHAT I AM SEEING

What am I seeing now

when I look at a tree

standing alone

in the middle

of a country field?

Not the strength

to bend straight

in the terrible weather.

Not an indomitable will to live.

Now I am seeing

the absent forest,

the undecided emptiness,

the cut down things.
